Since it's organization on January 28, 1958, the Lincolnshire
Garden Club has endeavored to further the education of members
and the public in the fields of gardening, horticulture, botany,
landscape design, floral design, conservation of natural resources,
and environmental ethics.
Some of the many projects the garden club has taken part in include:
-
Community beautification throughout the Village of Lincolnshire
through streetscape designs and design and maintenance of the
Blue Star Memorial Garden and the Perennial Sign Garden at
Spring Lake Park
-
Garden Therapy at the Riverside Foundation
-
Nature Restoration with the Lake County Forest Preserve at
the Everette Woods Forest and future restoration work at Florsheim
Park
-
Village of Lincolnshire Holiday Tree and holiday wreaths throughout
the Village in December.
-
Flower and garden shows.
-
Youth education through the Ecology Club at Daniel Wright
Junior High School.
Services provided by the Lincolnshire Garden Club include monthly
luncheon meetings with educational programs, workshops, Annual
Member's Plant Exchange, Annual Member's Garden Walk, Spring Luncheon,
Fall Benefit Auction and a multitude of books and videos relating
to gardening and flower arranging available at the Vernon Area
Library.
On April 15, 2010 the
Lincolnshire Garden Club
presented a $1,250 check
to the Village of
Lincolnshire for Holiday
plantings. Mayor
Blomberg accepted the check and expressed his
appreciation for all that
the Garden Club does for
the community. |
