Lincolnshire Garden Club's 35th Annual Benefit

7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
"April showers bring May flowers" and the Lincolnshire Garden Club's 35th Annual Benefit! Come join the Spring Garden Faire at the home of Jeanne Top, one of the Lincolnshire Garden Club members, as funds are raised to sponsor community projects. For the past 35 years the Garden Club has provided over $200,000 to fund community-betterment projects. It's Spring, so come shop for that special item to enhance your home or garden, or to give to one of your friends. You'll be helping to raise funds for the community at the same time. The forum will be discussing adolescent alcohol and drug use, depression and anxiety, as well as bullying and cyber-bullying. Help us plan by registering.


Wednesday, May 11th

Friends of the Library Sponsor Day Trip to Milwaukee Art Museum

Register by April 1st for a special tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright special exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum on May 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. hosted by the Friends of the Vernon Area Public Library.

Your guide will be art historian and university professor Jeff Mishur, who will provide commentary on Wright and the Prairie Style aboard the coach en route to Milwaukee. The package includes museum admission, a special exhibit ticket, a box lunch, round-trip coach transportation, and an audio guide at the museum.

Register at the Adult Services Desk in the Vernon Area Public LIbrary. Your registration fee ($79 for Friends members, $84 for nonmembers) should be made payable to the Friends of the Library and is due at time of registration. Registration deadline is April 1st. Saturday, May 14th

District 103 PTO 5K Run/2 Mile Walk

The PTO of Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 will host Run for the Fields, a 5K Run – 2 Mile Walk fundraiser at Daniel Wright Junior High School, 1370 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire at 8:00 a.m. Funds raised by the race will pay for the construction of two soccer fields, baseball field, path and other general improvements to the athletic fields at the school. The PTO encourages it’s students, parents, teachers and entire District 103 community – from walking strollers to serious runners – to participate. The race’s two mile course is designed for families, while the 5K portion is sanctioned and certified by the USATF, the United State Association of Track and Field. The 5K will follow Riverwoods Road to Surrey, Old Mill Circle and Road, Fallstone Drive, and Surrey then back along Riverwoods to Daniel Wright. The two mile walkers will follow the same route but turn around at Durham Court. Participants will be treated with goody bags, tee shirts, free food and refreshments and complimentary chair massages. Awards will also be handed out for the top three finishers in various age groups. See www.runforthefields.com for registration details. Registration deadline is May 10th.


Saturday, May 14th

Chicago River Day

The Village will be a sponsored location for the Chicago River Day to be held on Saturday, May 14th. Volunteers will meet at North Park at 1025 Riverwoods Road where we will work on path replacement and invasive weed control. Volunteers are welcome to come for as little or as long as they like. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon. For more information call Lydia at 847.913.2361.

Riverside Foundation 15th Annual Golf Outing


Riverside Foundation's 15th Annual Golf Outing will be held at White Deer Run Golf Course in Vernon Hills. Registration material can be found on the Riverside Foundation Website.

There are many ways to participate: 1) Sign up to play. It is a scramble so no need to be a good golfer! 2) Be a corporate sponsor of the event. 3) Consider contributing auction items, raffle prizes, or other goodies to the event. Your participation benefits Riverside Foundation's wonderful community of intellectually disabled adults who are our neighbors here in Lincolnshire.
