The contractor has been notified that, per the contract, no work will be performed from Friday the 28th through Monday the 31st. However, in an effort to get the project done as quickly as possible, we have authorized them to perform restoration, cleanup, and driveway repairs on Friday the 28th.
Pavement grinding is complete. The contractor will now begin the road patching. Village Staff have walked the site and marked out the sections of the road base to be removed and repaired. The contractor has begun driveway repairs starting with the brick pavers. If you are affected by the asphalt repairs, please anticipate some disruption to your driveway during this process. The contractor will remove the old pavement and prepare the stone sub base before new asphalt is installed. This process typically takes an hour to complete. While there may be minor disruption to your driveway, you should be able to access your drive, but you may have to wait for a short while immediately after the new pavement is installed.
Tack Oil Will be Coming Soon
Following this process, the contractor will apply
an asphalt emulsion to make the road tacky in preparation for paving.
Please drive carefully and slowly in order to decrease splattering
of asphalt. The Village does not pay for the removal of
this material if it gets on your car. Please avoid walking
in the street, and instruct your children to avoid the pavement
as this material can get onto shoes. Also, if you have a
lawn sprinkler, please turn it off or make sure that it does
not
put
water onto the pavement, as this will increase the likelihood
that the material will not dry properly.
Shortly following the tack oil, the contractor will install the leveling binder, which is a thin layer of a bituminous pavement, to be followed by final paving. Lastly, the contractor will place dirt behind the curbs as part of the restoration process.
The project is running smoothly, so we are anticipating completion prior to June 25, 2010, weather permitting.
During this project, there will be large equipment and trucks traveling on these streets. Please talk to your children about the dangers of playing near excavations, equipment, and material stockpiles. With your patience and cooperation, the project will proceed smoothly.
We will try to keep you updated as work progresses. If you have any questions, please contact the Engineering Division of Public Works at 847.883.8600 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
