The contractor has applied the asphalt emulsion to make the road tacky in preparation for paving. Please drive carefully and slowly in order to decrease splattering of asphalt. The Village does not pay for the removal of this material if it gets on your car. Please avoid walking in the street, and instruct your children to avoid the pavement as this material can get onto shoes. Also, if you have a lawn sprinkler, please turn it off or make sure that it does not put water onto the pavement, as this will increase the likelihood that the material will not dry properly.

Shortly following the tack oil, the contractor will install the leveling binder, which is a thin layer of a bituminous pavement, to be followed by final paving. Lastly, the contractor will address final punch-list items as well as complete all required restoration. If you believe a facet of the project has been missed, please contact us so we can investigate the issue and notify the contractor, before they complete their work.

As you may have already noticed, the contractor is completing the driveway repairs and will have the leveling course completed by the end of the week. After the weekend, the contractor will begin prepping for the surface course and doing general project restoration. The contractor hasn't established the exact date for the surface course, but once he has completed the drives and restorations, he expects to begin the surface paving operation next week.

The Village Staff and the contractor will travel the project and prepare a punch list of items yet to be completed such as general clean-up, restorations, and minor odds and ends that seem to come up on large projects such as this. These issues should all be completely resolved prior to the project completion date. Please note that when the restoration work is completed, it will need to be watered by the individually affected residents.

The project is on schedule for completion by June 25, 2010, weather permitting.

During this project, there will be large equipment and trucks traveling on these streets. Please talk to your children about the dangers of playing near excavations, equipment, and material stockpiles. With your patience and cooperation, the project will proceed smoothly.

We will try to keep you updated as work progresses. If you have any questions, please contact the Engineering Division of Public Works at 847.883.8600 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. For problems that develop after hours, you may call the Police non-emergency number at 847.883.9900 and they will contact the proper personnel for follow-up. Thank you for your cooperation.
