Route 22 and Milwaukee Avenue Intersection Improvements
This update is simply to notify you that as of July 1, 2010, the Union Laborers and Operating Engineers Union will be on strike. Therefore, there will be little to no activity occurring on the site until the strike ends. During this time, all traffic control measures will remain in-place, and therefore, all applicable laws and fines regarding driving in construction zones are still applicable.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
While the project remains on schedule for a completion date of September 24, 2010, we will notify you of any changes as soon as they are provided to us.
