Route 22 and Milwaukee Avenue Intersection Improvements
TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE
The contractor is close to completing the pavement work required as part of the Stage 2 construction. Currently the contractor is scheduled to perform a traffic switch next week on Milwaukee Avenue into Stage 2A. This stage involves closing gaps of pavement within the intersection. This work allows the contractor to prepare for the final pour in the middle of the intersection. Following that work, the contractor will begin Stage 3 construction, which includes tying the pavement sections together in the middle, construction of medians, and final restorations. Please pay close attention to these changes, as it can take some time to become accustom to.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
