Route 22 and Milwaukee Avenue Intersection Improvements
THE END IS NEAR
The contractor has completed the construction required as part
of Stage 2A. The contractor is now moving
forward with the final stage of construction, which includes tying
the pavement sections together in the
middle of the paved areas, construction of medians, and restoration
work. Additionally, while we do not
have an exact date at this time, the contractor will be paving
the middle of the intersection during the
overnight hours, as to not impact traffic.
Due to the nature of this final stage of construction, traffic switching operations will be happening with minimal to no warning. Please pay close attention when driving through the construction zone, as traffic pattern changes may occur throughout the day.
The contractor is on schedule to have the road open to traffic by October 15th. However, the actual completion date for the project may extend to the end of the month due to final punch-list items and restoration work. After the 15th, lane closures will be limited to day time only, but should be expected until the end of the month.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
