Building Permit Requests
The Village of Lincolnshire continues to experience a large amount
of Building Permit requests for residential projects. As most residents
are in a hurry to obtain approval and begin construction, the Village's
policy is to issue the Building Permit within 15 business days
of the original submittal date. However, problems occur when a
review of the construction documents reveals missing information
or a conflict with the Village Code. In this case a review is returned
to the applicant, which requires resubmittal once the issues are
addressed. This process slows the permit issuance process substantially
and in turn, delays construction further.
Fortunately, there is a way to avoid these delays. We recommend
that you contact us, and schedule a pre-submittal meeting. We can
sit down with you and/or your architect and examine what you plan
on submitting. Although we will not be performing a review, we
can let you know if important items of information are missing
from your submittal. This is by no means a guarantee that your
permit will be approved on the first review, but it will certainly
make the resubmittal process easier, should it be necessary.
Please keep in mind that the Building staff and Community Development
Department are here to assist you. Adhering to Village Codes will
help your remodeling projects last longer and present fewer concerns
in the future. This will continue the strong tradition of high
quality construction in the Village and help keep property values
at the same high level our residents enjoy today. |
