Current Village Projects
With so much construction activity currently occurring in the
Village, we thought our residents might be interested in knowing
about some of these projects.
The Village is currently working with a contractor to complete
the Street Resurfacing Program, which is paid for, in part, by
your motor fuel taxes, and that restores approximately two miles
of Village roads annually. The roads that are being resurfaced
or repaired this year are Berkshire Lane, Surrey Lane, Durham Court,
Parton Court, Surrey Court, Leeds Court, Brampton Lane, Brampton
Court, Stafford Court, and portions of Oxford Drive.
Greenview Homes is moving forward with their office and sales
center on a longtime vacant lot immediately north of McDonald's
restaurant on Milwaukee Avenue. The building foundation has been
installed, sitework and building utilities operations are underway,
and site hard surfaces are planned for completion before winter.
This building will be an excellent addition to the Downtown project
area.
The Old Mill Woods subdivision is also fully underway. A residential
neighborhood of 27 upscale homes, located on the west side of Old
Mill Road, focuses on the link between residential development
and the preservation of environmentally significant land. The site
work has been ongoing for several weeks and the builder has already
submitted house plans to the Building Department for review and
approval.
As you may have noticed, Walter E. Smithe, located at Milwaukee
Avenue and Knightsbridge Parkway, has been under construction for
several months. The exterior work is nearing completion and the
interior finishes are the contractor's main focus at this time.
Given the remaining work to be performed, the store should be ready
for occupancy by winter.
At the northwest corner of Aptakisic Road and Barclay Boulevard,
the United Auto Workers Region 4 Headquarters site has recently
started construction activities. Tree and erosion protection measures,
site grading, and general project start-up activities have begun.
You are probably aware by now, that the Sedgebrook development
is on the move. The contractor is on a fast-track construction
schedule. The approximately 30 acre lake is nearing completion,
while site utilities, the installation of the decorative subdivision
street wall, and mass grading operations are all at full operation.
The first Residential Building is in its steel superstructure phase
and is climbing to its six-story top height, while the two-story
Community Building has a steel superstructure that is approximately
60% complete. The concrete contractor is currently installing the
foundation system for the second Residential Building, a pool and
spa are being constructed in the Community Building, and electrical
and plumbing operations are occurring throughout the site.
In addition to these major projects, the Village's Building Division
is currently working on approximately 80 active residential and
commercial permits for review and approval, as well as approximately
350 permitted projects (large and small) actively underway throughout
the Village. |
