Spring is Here!
It's that time of year that we have all been longing for, after
the harsh realities of winter. However, with the good weather comes
the realities of spring chores. While there is no better feeling
than pulling out your patio furniture on a sunny 70 degree day,
there is also no better time of year to tackle some home maintenance
projects. Here are a few chores that you may not have considered:
- Now that the heating season is over, have a chimney sweep
clean any fireplaces and flues, and have your furnace/airconditioning
systems serviced.
- Have your water heater serviced and flushed.
- Repair small tears in window and door screens using a kit
from your local hardware store, which will prevent insects from
getting into your home.
- Clean those clogged gutters.
- Clean your ceiling fans and reverse the direction of the fan.
Remember, the fan should blow up in the cooling season and down
in the heating season. Remember when cleaning the fan to clean
the motor housing too.
- If you have battery operated smoke detectors, change the batteries
and test. Otherwise, just perform your usual monthly test.
- Check your deck for popped nails. If they exist, remove and
replace with a new deck screw in the same hole.
Hopefully, the chores above don’t deter you and your family
from enjoying the nice weather too much, but a little time spent
in the spring allows for an enjoyable rest of the year!
