Erickson Retirement
Communities
The Sedgebrook Retirement Community is located on a 92-acre
campus on the east side of Milwaukee Avenue, just south of the
Rivershire
community and at the southern boundary of the Village Limits. It
is a full-service residential campus designed to provide a continuum
of care alternatives for senior citizens, and will be developed
as a multiple phase community comprised of three distinct, yet
interconnected, neighborhoods. The first neighborhood has been
fully-constructed and the Village anticipates the second neighborhood
will be in the planning stages in the next year or two, with full
build-out of all three neighborhoods now expected beyond 2015.
When complete, the campus will serve as home to approximately 2,100
residents who will enjoy 24 hour care and security from on-staff
physicians and safety officers. The campus contains a 32-acre naturalized
detention pond that is a visual focal point for the three neighborhoods,
providing a natural setting, complete with a variety of wildlife.
The development is extensively landscaped and there has been an
eye to detail as it regards the architectural design of the buildings
on campus. Each neighborhood will contain a central community building,
which houses common amenities such as dining and entertainment
areas, limited retail and service uses, and a large auditorium.
As with the first neighborhood, the second and third will have
rich building materials and strong architectural features are to
both integrate and distinguish each neighborhood from the rest
of the campus.
