Alternative Wind/Solar Energy Systems
As public interest in energy conservation and
alternate energy sources continues to increase, wind turbines
and solar panel
energy systems are moving away from farmlands and gaining interest
in suburban communities across the country. In response, the
Village Board has taken a proactive approach in considering
the circumstances under which such alternate energy systems
could be acceptable within the Village.
Over a seven-month process, in 2009 and 2010, the Village’s
Planning Staff conducted significant research on available products
and equipment, current trends in zoning regulations, impact studies
and reports, and regional wind resource data to gain an in-depth
knowledge of how such alternative energy collection systems can
be integrated into Lincolnshire, while preserving its pastoral
character.
The result is a new Alternative
Energy Collection Systems zoning code approved by the Village Board on January 25, 2010. |
