Permit Expirations

In November the Village passed a new ordinance placing an expiration date on all permits issued by the Building Department. The amendment can be found in section 5-2-2-1 of the Village Code.

Essentially, all permitted work must now be completed within 12 months of the date of permit issuance. The Building Official may grant extensions of time if the applicant can provide justifiable cause and request an extension in writing. It is the goal of the Village to ensure that permitted work is completed in a timely fashion in order to lessen the impact of construction on the neighboring properties.
