New Political Campaign Sign Regulations
Last August, the Village Board of Trustees approved a code amendment
that removed the time frame limitation for the display of political
campaign signs in response to the State’s passing of a
prohibition on such limitations. As of January 1, 2011, political
campaign signs on residential properties are no longer limited
to 36 days prior to an election and can now be displayed at any
time. Please be aware that there continues to be location and
size limitations for political signs that must be followed, which
are:
-
Political signs are permitted only on private property
and require consent of the property owner.
-
Signs may be double-sided and shall be limited to six (6) square
feet in area per side and a maximum height of four (4) feet.
