Don’t Be a Flasher!

You're driving along and all of a sudden, surprise, there's a cop working radar. You make it by without getting stopped and in the spirit of being a good sport with your fellow drivers, you flash your headlights at an oncoming car to warn him of the impending radar zone.

Consider this: Between 5% and 10% of all driver's stopped for a traffic violation have something significantly wrong! It could be their driver's license is suspended or revoked; their license plates are suspended or revoked; they don't even have a driver's license; they are driving without insurance; they are wanted; they are carrying a weapon or illegal contraband; they just committed a crime; they are drunk or under the influence of drugs; they have open liquor in the car; they were just involved in an accident and fled the scene before police arrived; or they are just not a nice person who has no respect for traffic laws and should not be given a break.

Furthermore, you yourself could be in violation of the law by interfering with the official duties of a police officer.

Speeding tickets are not a great revenue source for the Village by the time you figure in all the costs. They are issued to keep our roads and you and your family SAFE! Help us do our job and let us deal with the violators and don't you be a flasher!! Thanks and drive safely.
