Riverwoods Road and
Everett Road Intersection Improvement Project
September 2, 2010
The contractor has completed the required removal
of existing pavement on Everett Road and Riverwoods Road.
They are now completing base preparation and placing the hard surfaces
(curb, gutter, and road surface),
specifically on the north side of Everett Road and the west side
of Riverwoods Road. Please pay close attention to the
traffic control measures, as these construction activities can
be distracting to drivers. Following this work, the
contractor will shift traffic onto the new pavement in these areas,
to allow them to construct the median areas.
This work is not scheduled for approximately 2-3 weeks.
Village Staff will be meeting with the County and
the contractor on a regular bi-weekly basis to keep you updated
with any new information that arises.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be
in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not
workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for
changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially
when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance
for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum
penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs
advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail
sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact
Rob Horne by email at
or by phone at 847.913.2366. You may also contact
the Lake County Division of Transportation directly
at 847.377.7400. Additionally, the County has useful information
regarding roundabouts that can be viewed on
their website.
