August 13, 2009 The Illinois Department of Transportation has begun work on the in Lincolnshire on August 3, 2009. The project involves the construction of a new concrete pavement that will add turn lanes at each leg of the intersection, drainage improvements, traffic signal upgrades, and path construction. The ultimate configuration will be as follows: As part of the reconstruction of intersection at Route 22 and US45/IL21 (Milwaukee Avenue) the contractor will be moving into the next stage of construction, which will include pavement removal, temporary pavement installation, and the installation of temporary traffic signals. As par of that work, the contractor will be again modifying the traffic patterns at the intersection. Please be aware, that during the initial traffic shift, it may take the contractor a day or two to configure the temporary traffic signals to manage the new traffic pattern. This configuration is expected to remain in-place throughout much of the remainder of the year. The projected completion for this project remains July 2010. Please pay attention to the posted signage, as changes to the traffic patterns will take time to become accustom to, especially during the configuration of the signals. Due to the impact of the construction at this intersection, we strongly recommend allowing yourself extra time to get through the construction zone, or consider alternate routes.
