Intersection of Route 22 and 21 Construction Updates
June 10, 2010
LAST WEEK WE INFORMED YOU THAT SINCE THE WEATHER AND SCHEDULE
HAVE BEEN
FAVORABLE, THE CONTRACTOR WOULD BE SWITCHING THE EAST/WEST TRAFFIC
OF ROUTE 22
TRAFFIC ON TO THE NEW PAVEMENT THE WEEK OF JUNE 14th.
THIS SCHEDULE HAS CHANGED.
THE CONTRACTOR HAS PUSHED THE SCHEDULE TO FRIDAY,
JUNE 11th, THEREFORE, PLEASE
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE MESSAGE BOARDS AND THE NEW LANE
CONFIGURATION.
THESE TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGES WILL TAKE TIME TO BECOME ACCUSTOM
TO.
The contractor is currently preparing the base for
pavement on the north and south legs of Route 21
(Milwaukee Avenue). Next week, following the lane switch, the
contractor will be mobilizing their pavement
removal equipment to start removing the old pavement on Route
22. Please focus on the traffic and driving,
as these activities can be very distracting to drivers.
The project remains on schedule for a completion
date of September 24, 2010.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be
in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not
workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch
for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially
when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance
for drivers speeding in work zones. The
minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375.
Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and
14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
If you have any questions regarding this
matter, please contact Rob Horne by email at
or by phone at 847.913.2366.
