Intersection of Route 22 and 21 Construction Updates
August 5, 2010
The contractor is close to completing the box culvert, which is
a very large poured concrete culvert for the
unnamed tributary that flows under Route 22. Once this work is
complete the contractor will begin preparing
the base for the east leg of Route 22. The contractor also completed
the steel layout and began pouring
concrete in the northern and southern legs of Route 21. While
the contractor is pouring concrete on Route
21, they will also be preparing the base material on Route 22.
This will allow the contractor to begin pouring
concrete on Route 22 much more quickly. Please focus on the traffic
and driving, as these activities can be
very distracting to drivers.
ALL BUSINESS ACCESSES HAVE REMAINED OPEN THROUGHOUT THE CONSTRUCTION
PROCESS. HOWEVER MCDONALD'S AND BP AMOCO'S MILWAUKEE AVENUE ACCESSES
WILL BE CLOSED FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS. PLEASE USE THEIR ROUTE
22 ACCESSES DURING THIS TIME.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in
this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present.
Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns
and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies
have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum
penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise
motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting
a roadway worker.
The Village has not received any information regarding a completion
date revision due to the strike. However, the date has been revised
slightly from September 24th to September 26th. We will notify
you of any changes as soon as they are provided to us.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact
Rob Horne by email at
or by phone at 847.913.2366. As always, the Village will pass along information
as it is provided to us. |
