Intersection of Route 22 and 21 Construction Updates

The contractor is close to completing the pavement work on Route 21 required as part of the Stage 2 construction. Additionally, the contractor is pouring pavement and preparing the base for pavement on both the east and west legs of Route 22. Please focus on the traffic and driving, as these activities can be very distracting to drivers. Following completion of the Stage 2 construction, the contractor will move into Stage 2A, which involves closing gaps of pavement within the intersection. Following that work, the contractor will begin Stage 3 construction, which includes tying the pavement sections together in the middle, construction of medians, and final restorations.

ATTENTION - McDonald's access on Route 21 was closed for an additional week, but will be opened as of the end of the day FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2010.

As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.

The Village has not received any information regarding a completion date revision due to the strike. However, the date has been revised slightly from September 24th to September 26th. We will notify you of any changes as soon as they are provided to us.
