Intersection of Route 22 and 21 Construction Updates
September 16, 2010
TRAFFIC PATTERN CHANGE
The contractor is close to completing the pavement work required
as part of the Stage 2 construction. Currently
the contractor is scheduled to perform a traffic switch next week
on Milwaukee Avenue into Stage 2A. This
stage involves closing gaps of pavement within the intersection.
This work allows the contractor to prepare
for the final pour in the middle of the intersection. Following
that work, the contractor will begin Stage 3
construction, which includes tying the pavement sections together
in the middle, construction of medians, and
final restorations. Please pay close attention to these changes,
as it can take some time to become accustom
to.
As a reminder, reduced speed limits will still be in effect in
this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present.
Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns
and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies
have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum
penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise
motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting
a roadway worker.
The Village has not received any information regarding a completion
date revision due to the strike. However, the date has been revised
slightly from September 24th to September 26th. We will notify
you of any changes as soon as they are provided to us.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact
Rob Horne by email at
or by phone at 847.913.2366. As always, the Village will pass along information
as it is provided to us. |
