August 6, 2009 The contractor continues the construction activity on the north side of Route 22, with a specific concentration at the Bridge. The contractor has scheduled a temporary lane closure on the Tollway during the overnight hours on August 19th and 20th to erect structural beams. Additionally, during the week of August 17th, there will be a traffic reconfiguration that will affect Hewitt Drive at Route 22. Please pay attention to the posted signage, as changes to the traffic patterns will take time to become accustom to, especially during the reconfiguration of the signals. The Route 22 traffic configuration is expected to remain in-place until the projected completion date. The contractor remains on schedule to complete the project in November 2009. The Village will pass along pertinent information as it becomes available to us. Caution, reduced speed limits are in effect 24/7 in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic patterns and use caution, especially when workers are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for speeding in a work zone is $375. Posted signs advise motorists of a $10,000 fine and 14-year jail sentence for hitting a roadway worker.
