Tollway Bridge on Route 22 Construction Updates
December 3, 2009
The contractor will be completed with all the concrete pavement
work by the end of the week. Additionally,
they will be performing pavement markings, landscaping and minor
curb repairs over the following seven to ten
days. The contractor indicated that they will attempt to open as
much of the roadway as possible as these
remaining items are completed. You will notice areas seemingly
free of construction which is barricaded off.
These areas must remain protected as recently poured
concrete patches have not entirely cured. During these activities,
pay close attention to the posted signage, as minor traffic patterns
may be necessary to complete these minor items.
Following the completion of this work, the only
outstanding item to be completed will be the installation of the
permanent traffic control signals. mOT and the Tollway are working
through
issues right now, so these will not
be installed until next year. That said, the project is on schedule
for completion by December 28th,
2009.
The Village will pass along pertinent information as it becomes
available to us.
Caution, reduced speed limits are in effect 24/7
in this and all construction zones, whether or not workers are
present. Drivers should continue to watch for changing traffic
patterns
and use caution, especially when workers
are present. Police agencies have zero tolerance for drivers
speeding in work zones. The minimum penalty for
speeding in a work zone is $375.
