2010 Street Rehabilitation Project
May 13, 2010
As you may have noticed, curb and gutter replacement work began
on May 5, 2010. The weather has not been
cooperating, yet the contractor is making efforts to continue work
when possible. The sewer contractor is scheduled to
install several sewer improvements along portions of Windsor Drive
the week of May 10th weather permitting. As a
reminder, curbs are usually replaced within a week of the time
they are removed. Concrete requires 3 to 4 days "cure
time" to gain strength before opening to traffic. While work
is in progress, space for on-street parking will be reduced.
Please try to park your vehicles off the street as much as possible.
If repairs interrupt access to your driveway, please
try to make arrangements to use a neighbor's driveway (you may
be able to return the favor later). If you have to park
on the street, do not park where you will block traffic - find
a spot "between" patches or farther down the block where
less work is being done. The police department is aware of this
project and will not ticket vehicles for parking on the
street within the project limits.
If you have an invisible dog fence cable or underground
sprinkler system located near the curb or crossing under your driveway,
please
mark the location in a manner which will alert the contractor so
extra careful attention can be given to protect your systems. The
Village will not be responsible for damage to these or other encroachments
in the Right-of-Way.
We do not anticipate the project completion date
being extended at this time. The project is still scheduled for
completion by mid-June, weather permitting.
During this project, there will be large equipment
and trucks traveling on these streets. Please talk to your children
about the dangers of playing near excavations, equipment
and material stockpiles. With your patience and
cooperation, the project will proceed smoothly.
We will try to keep you updated as work progresses. If you have
any questions, please contact Rob Horne, Engineering Supervisor,
at 847.913.2366 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through
Friday. For problems that develop after hours, you may call the
Police non-emergency number at 847.883.9900 and they will contact
the proper personnel for follow-up. Thank you for your cooperation.
