2010 Street Rehabilitation Project
June 3, 2010
Pavement grinding is complete. The contractor has now begun the
road patching. Village Staff have walked the site
and marked out the sections of the road base to be removed and
repaired. The contractor will also be working on
driveway repairs and patches.
The contractor is hoping to have the patching complete
by the 4th.
Following the patching, the contractor will clean
the site in preparation for installing the leveling and final surfaces.
The contractor will apply an asphalt emulsion to
make the road tacky in preparation for paving. Please drive carefully
and slowly in order to decrease splattering of asphalt. The Village
does not pay for the removal of this material if it
gets on your car. Please avoid walking in the street, and instruct
your children to avoid the pavement as this material
can get onto shoes. Also, if you have a lawn sprinkler, please
turn it off or make sure that it does not put water onto
the pavement, as this will increase the likelihood that the material
will not dry properly.
Shortly following the tack oil, the contractor will
install the leveling binder, which is a thin layer of a bituminous
pavement, to be followed by final paving. Lastly, the contractor
will address final punchlist items as well as complete
all required restoration.
The project is on schedule for completion by June 25, 2010,
weather permitting.
During this project, there will be large equipment
and trucks traveling on these streets. Please talk to your children
about the dangers of playing near excavations, equipment, and material
stockpiles. With your patience
and cooperation, the project will proceed smoothly.
We will try to keep you updated as work progresses.
If you have any questions, please contact the Engineering
