Clean Water - Be a Part
of the Solution
Because we all live in a watershed, we all impact
water runoff from rain. We
need to be aware that our impact can negatively affect the quality
of our
streams and rivers. The Village has enacted regulations prohibiting
the
introduction of pollutants or chemicals into the storm sewers as
these pipes lead to open waterways. Residents can help by directing
water runoff from
our roofs, sump pumps and driveways into rain barrels, rain gardens,
open
vegetated swales or other features where that water can be used
in a
constructive way or absorbed by plants. Residents should consider
planting
plants on their property that are native to our area. These plants
require less
watering and absorb more water than many non-native plants. Use
pesticides and fertilizes sparingly.
