Water and Sewer Rates to Increase Due to Suppliers
Costs
Effective on January 15, 2010, with the new fiscal year, the
Village’s water and sewer rates will be increased. The
increases are driven by the cost of purchasing water and the
treatment of sanitary sewage.
- Water rates will
increase by 1%. We purchase our "wholesale" water from
the City of Highland Park and its rate to us increased by 1.25%
on January 1st.
- Sewer rates will
increase by 2.6% on January 1st. Thei ncrease is due to a 3.1%
increase in treatment costs from Lake County, effective March
1st. The Lake County Board has also approved an increase of 3%
to be effective March of 2011.
- The Village reduced its
combined water and sewer controllable costs by 4.4% from the
FY 2009 budget. The overall combined water and sewer rate increase
